The other name for the key daemon is IKED and IKEEXT these need to be running for the VPN manager to connect to the key daemon. Unable to connect using shrewsoft 2.2.0 (too old to reply). If you get a 'user authentication error' but also 'failed to attach to key daemon', check iked is running (check ps cax grep 'iked' lists an iked process), and if not then remember to run it first! Intermittent internet connections, maintenance on the university servers and other general technical difficulties can result in your connection. Hello, I'm trying to connect to my university VPN via the shrew VPN manager. It works from my laptop (win 8.1) in the same dorm network but with my desktop (win 8.1, z97 gaming g45 mainbaord, qualcomm killer network drivers) it doesn't work. Shrew comes up with:
attached to key daemon ...
peer configured iskamp proposal configured esp proposal configured client configured local id configured remote id configured pre-shared key configured bringing up tunnel ... negotiation timout occurred tunnel disabled detached from key daemon Shrewsoft Failed To Attach To Key Daemon Windows
I saw the Shrew network in my device manager under the network adapters. I clicked on 'enable this device' and then it disapeared and is no longer in the device manager. In the network adapters there is also nothing except the killer network ethernet.
I tried uninstalling, turning off anti-virus, turning off windows firewall, reinstalling as admin, rebooting and sacrificing a goat under the full moon. So far the latter seems to have helped the most. Can someone please help me figure this out? ![]() Shrew Soft Attached To Key Daemon Tool
